‘ A bucket list trip is the best description. It is a way of experiencing Italy that is unique, and could not be organised in any other way. It is highly personal, great fun, full of adventures and beautifully organised. The experiences make it immersive in Umbrian culture, and is especially enjoyable if you like artisan crafts and history. This type of trip was Maria’s vision for her company, and the personal preparation with her is a lovely feature. It greatly helps to gain the best out of the travel, and it creates excitement for the trip. If you love Italy already, this will be a highlight of your travels, with special memories of a less known area of Italy. Nikki, my partner, and I have travelled widely and to Italy many times, and this was trip unlike anything we experienced before, one of our best.’

‘ Maria our host was amazing. Her attention to detail was second to none. Our accommodation in a 13th century hamlet in the countryside was spot on. Every morning we would receive a hand written note about the events we were going to be doing. A private driver every day was a touch of class. The activities were individual and bespoke with some to cater just for me. The relationships with locals is heartfelt. Anything was possible. Maria’s infectious laughter and carefree demeanour delighted all. Highly recommend to travel with Maria and her company ‘Italy in my pocket’. Travel plans in a couple of years. 10/10 ‘

‘ What started out as a much-anticipated fun family trip to Umbria in November 2025, turned into the trip of a lifetime for us. We are truly indebted to Maria and Italy In My Pocket for our very special and unforgettable experience that we’ve recently returned from.

With Maria elegantly and effortlessly guiding us along the way, we had the privileged experience of becoming immersed for 10 days in true Umbrian culture and hospitality. From ring making, to weaving, pottery and painting classes, cooking lessons, truffle hunting, journal binding, candle making, hiking, bike riding and fabulous authentic café hopping and superb accommodation along the way, our adventures were truly mesmerising, fun and spectacular.

Our experiences were so personal, beautifully curated and delivered every time with such with passion, pride and skill.

Maria’s preparation and planning skills are breathtaking. Her networks on the ground in Umbria are incredible. It was clear to us how much respect the local Umbrians we were lucky enough to meet and spend time with have for Maria.

We unreservedly recommend Italy In My Pocket to anyone wanting to experience the beauty and joy of Umbrian culture, taking the road less travelled! ‘

‘ She will show, but she will not tell:
Perched high upon a volcanic cliff in Umbria, Orvieto dazzled me first with her grand performance – the Duomo, radiant and intricate, the “Golden Lily of Italian Cathedrals.” Yet it was more than the cathedral that stayed with me.
With Maria as my hostess, Orvieto revealed itself more gently. Maria does not overwhelm you with facts; instead, she opens small doors of curiosity and lets you wander through them at your own pace.
As I meandered along narrow, winding streets, following my own direction and pace, I noticed a sign referring to Freud. Later I discovered that three visits to this quiet hill town helped shape some of his theories. It was a discovery I might easily have missed without Maria creating the space for such moments.
That is her gift: she shows you the place but allows you to find your own meaning within it.
And now I feel the pull to return – perhaps even twice! I am also more aware of quiet revelations.
Thank you, Maria, for the quiet, for opening that door, and for sharing in the delight of discovery.

Con piacere, Dhakshi ‘

‘ I hosted a jewellery experience with Italy In My Pocket and I was surprised at how the group all felt so relaxed together. The tour guide joined in with the activities and contributed to making the experience a lot of fun for everyone. ‘
